This morning Christian and I went by tuk tuk on a 40 min trip to the Killing Fields.
It is where thousands of people were taken and mass murders took place, there are at least 8 deep pits to see which had been mass graves.
There are many items of clothing still in the ground that stick out in places where the rains dislodge them.
The bones have now been dug up and sorted out into age and sex and all the skulls and bones placed in a glass memorial tower.
After there we went to the Genocide museum which was more depressing, it was the place where tens of thousands of people had been detained in tiny cells, (there to see) tortured and shackled before being taken to the killing fields.
It was so sad reading the horrors that took place there and seeing the instruments used.
There were thousands of mugshots of those detained with their arms tied tightly behind their backs, men, women and children, no one was spared.
So, not the happiest of days, but impossible to be here without visiting the sites.
Needless to say I didn't feel like taking any photos.
Last night here tonight, Christian is popping by and I have invited another girl here on her own to join.
I will have some more cocktails (I have become quite partial to the fresh fruit ones) and feel it must surely add to my 5 a day.
I am off to Siem Reap on the 12 noon bus tomorrow so see you there.....
Sounds like you having brilliant time and meeting lots of new people, that was the original plan, so good then. Pics are really good keep em coming, only 10 days til xmas, not that you care. lol x
